One thing in advance, I am writing this review in English to make it more accessible to all european customers. I am from Germany and built my first own Arcade Cabinet from scratch at the end of 2022. The tiresome topic of the length of the joystick. What I have long calculated back and forth to find the perfect length for the Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT installed with me. I screwed them from below to a 18mm thick multiplex board and embed the holding plate of the joysticks exactly 1,5mm. In addition, a 3 mm thick plexiglass pane was placed on the multiplex board later. 18 mm + 3 mm - 1.5 mm = 19.5 mm So the standard joystick had a length of 19.5 mm between the top of the control board and the ball. That was way too short, so I bought two of these extenders. The problem is that the travel of the joystick becomes too long and you rather have the feeling to operate the shift lever of an H-shift in a car. Therefore, an intermediate solution was needed. I removed the original joystick rods and shortened them by exactly 8 mm. First I’ve turned off the complete thread and then 8mm from the point of support. After that I drilled a 5 mm core hole and cut a M6 thread in the joystick rod. Then I put a M6x20 grub screw in it and the shortened version of the joystick rod was ready. By the way, I recommend to glue the whole thing with threadlocker. Now everything fits perfectly and feels good when playing.
